The Modus team recently attended the 2019 Atlassian Summit in Las Vegas. Among all the Keynotes, breakout sessions, and networking, there were a lot of exciting announcements at this year’s event about the future of the tool suite. Check out our list of the most interesting announcements and upcoming features from Summit 2019 below.
Atlassian Cloud Premium for Jira and Confluence
Products: Jira Cloud & Confluence Cloud
This is a premium add-on service for Jira Cloud and Confluence Cloud that adds:
- 99.9% SLA (Service Level Agreement)
- Premium Support (Highest support package from Atlassian)
- Unlimited storage
- Enhanced feature sets
You can add this service to Jira, Confluence, or both.
New Jira Cloud Premium features appear to be related to next-gen projects. So if you are not taking advantage of next-gen projects yet, it’s a great time to check them out!

For Confluence Cloud Premium, there is one great new feature for super admins currently called Admin Key, which allows the admin temporary access to restricted pages but also notifies page owners when they do.
However, there was another Confluence Cloud Premium feature announced at Summit that is coming soon: Analytics! This is long overdue for Cloud and, even in a basic form, is a welcomed, highly requested addition.

✌️AgileCraft, 👋 Jira Align: Agile at Enterprise Scale
During the Summit, we welcomed AgileCraft to the Atlassian family and then quickly said goodbye when it was rebranded to Jira Align. Jira Align is a powerful Agile portfolio management tool to manage your Agile process at enterprise scale. It tightly integrates with your team toolset, and is especially powerful when having 1 or more instances of Jira, to “connect business strategy to customer outcomes.”
Individual or Bulk Issue Archiving
Products: Jira Software & Jira Service Desk (Data Center)
Do you have issues in your Jira project that you want to archive but not the entire project? Maybe you have issues across multiple active projects you want to archive? Soon this will be simple to do with Issue Archiving!
You’ll be able to archive an individual issue or archive in bulk with a JQL search query and a new bulk action. For the more technical use cases, don’t worry! There will be an API for this new action too.
CDN Support Increases Speed for Remote Users
Products: Jira Software, Jira Service Desk, Confluence, Bitbucket (Data Center)
Coming soon is the ability to use a CDN (Content Delivery Network) with your Atlassian Data Center products to improve performance, especially for remote users. The Atlassian team found that on average 80% of the page load was static content.
By adding a CDN to cache this static content, you should see a decrease in page loads and an increase in user satisfaction, especially during peak hours. You can use AWS CloudFront or your preferred CDN.
Early Access Program for 10K+ Cloud User Organizations
Does your organization have more than 5K users and want unlimited storage? Atlassian is currently accepting a very small group of customers into a closed early access program to increase the user limit to from 5,000 users to 10,000 users. Want to request access to this
program? Send us an email!
Conclusion
Excited for these new features? There were so many great announcements during the 2019 Atlassian Summit. As a Gold Solution Partner, Modus is excited to help our clients achieve their Atlassian goals!
