It’s our 8th birthday today! It’s hard to believe, March 1, 2011 doesn’t feel that long ago. As we look back at this incredible journey, the past year was one of huge milestones and growth for Modus. We continued expanding our worldwide footprint by opening an office in San Jose, Costa Rica, moving to a new space in Cluj, Romania, and designing a new HQ in Reston, VA. We also strengthened our unparalleled global team with new Modites all across the world, from Brazil to India to Nigeria.
Our digital transformation work led to new technology partnerships, too. In 2018, Modus gained an official Standard Consulting Partner certification with AWS and earned, for the first time, an Atlassian Consulting Partner accreditation. We also strengthened our awesome partnership with Ionic by becoming core contributors to the framework. Led by contributions from our internal incubator ModusLabs, we added an Ionic-Vue connector to Ionic’s core code. And, made a reference app, BEEP, to prove it works!

We continued our mission of being active, visible, and relevant in the open source community by publishing our contributions on ModusLabs and our blog, by contributing to Webpack and Vue on Open Collective, and by speaking at dozens of events and Meetups across the world. Modus also got involved at the intersection of technology and societal impact, funding a research study at George Mason University to evaluate assistive technology platforms for cognitive diversity.
Lastly, we were recognized for our great work. For the fourth year in a row, we were named to the Inc. 5000 list of Fastest Growing Companies. We were also named to the Washington Business Journal 75 Fastest Growing Companies list in the DC area, and the #9 best remote employer by FlexJobs. This is a testament to our world-class team of consultants all over the globe.
A special thanks to the worldwide collection of Modites who made our achievements possible. It’s been an amazing journey. We’ve already made the first move of many in bringing a consciousness to our organizational structure in 2019 by adding a Director of Customer Experience, Chris Avore. There’s more to come from Modus in its 9th year!
